★webstar review

Andreas Reihse, Thomas Klein, and Alex Paulick have been creating electronic music in Düsseldorf Germany since 1994. Originally with Stefan Schneider and Detlef Weinrich, and later with a variety of guest musicians, Kreidler have produced and been involved with many musical projects over the years that encompass spoken word, poetry, soundtracks, remixes, and their own studio output.

The music is instrumental and ranges from electronic pop to more abstract works that are often entwined with video and imagery from filmmakers and artists.

The latest album, Spells and Daubs, released in 2022 continues this theme. Ten instrumental tracks are packaged up with distinctive artwork from Heinz Emigholz to produce a media rich aural and visual experience. The rhythm and pace of each track connects and takes you on a musical journey that's both industrial and melodic in nature with repetitive themes and more ambient moments.

Cover Story

Kreidler album coverHeinz Emigholz is a filmmaker and artist from Germany. His distinctive works were used to produce the cover art and presentation (designed by Andreas Reihse) for the Kreidler album Spells and Daubs (2022). The illustrations are from an extensive series of works under the title Die Basis des Make-Up. All are in black and white and were a work in progress from 1974 to 2008. Emigholz also makes films with abstract themes and avant-garde elements which often consider form and composition relating to space and geometry. Film is released under Pym Films and some feature as visuals for the music of Kreidler.
